The mountains in the West fjords are layered. Through millions of years the lava flows form dark basalt layers but in between we see the red laterit layers. They are dead plants and dust forming soil between eruptions.
I have been looking at those red and black layers for many years and they are the inspiration for this exhibition. Plantlike textile installation painted with egg tempera where the pigment is made of laterit and basalt from the West fjord mountains.
